Mastering Dreamlike Acrylic Paintings

Mastering dreamlike acrylic painting was essential for me and something I continually work at.   I paint in my home and the mediums that go hand and hand with oil were just too overpowering to be smelling in my kitchen,  That’s not to say that I don’t love the way a studio smells of turpentine and linseed oil,  because I do.  Although acrylic was the way to go I was fiercely determined that I could paint as well with acrylic as I could with oil.  That has been the greatest challenge.  There have been many painstaking hours of blending and layering with the use of glazing mediums and retardants over the past six years.  Of course with acrylic the greatest challenge is also color and that too is very challenging.  The bottom line is that for me acrylic paint is a wonderful medium.  It’s odorless, washable, clean, and the best advantage for me is that it dries very quickly so you never need to stop.  When I’m on that creative plane, I definitely don’t want to stop.
